Our idea

Our School

Our school is Dr. Ginestal Machado, in Santarém, Portugal. It’s a public school offering education from lower secondary (3rd cycle) to upper secondary levels. It is the headquarters of the Dr. Ginestal Machado School Group, which includes several educational units in the city. It was founded in 1956, originally named Industrial and Commercial School of Santarém. Since the beginning, it to offers training in locksmithing, female education, and commerce. Then, it was moved to its current location, in 1969, being renamed in 1987, in honor of a political figure of the first Portuguese republic.

It provides a variety of academic courses, including Sciences, Economies, Humanities and Arts. It continues to give technical offers to the students that want to start working after the 12th grade. We can attend professional courses in different areas, such as: Computer Science – systems and programming; Event Planning Technician; Communication - Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising; Graphic Arts; Arts - Performer/Actor/Actress; Audiovisuals.
.These options allow students to start working and/or go to the university, getting a level 4 degree.
It also participates in eco-friendly initiatives such as the Eco-Schools program, reflecting its commitment to environmental education.

Dr. Ginestal Machado Secondary School, in Santarém has taken part in several Erasmus+ projects focused on culture, environment, health, and technology, promoting innovation and the personal and academic development of both students and teachers.

Our idea

The idea for the StressControl app emerged from the growing awareness within our community, mainly about the increasing mental health challenges related to stress and anxiety. As students, we noticed that these issues were affecting everyone, and there was a lack of easily accessible resources for managing mental well-being.

Inspired by the need for a more supportive environment, we decided to create an app that would help people understand and cope with these challenges. Our goal is to provide practical, easily understandable tools to improve mental health, while contributing to the global conversation on mental well-being, in line with the 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
